Bedtime fun

As a child I remember my dad putting me to bed. I remember him singing me a song, one of nursery rimes gone crazy.

Old mother Hubbard went to her cupboard to fetch her poor dog a bone
And when she got there the cupboard was bare
So she threw it out the window
The window, the window, the second story window
When she got there the cupboard was bare
So she threw it out the window.

Little miss muffet sat on her tuffet eating her curds and whey
And along came a spider and sat down beside her
And she threw it out the window....and so on

One other fun tradition dad had was to read me books in bed. Not the normal way though, backwards. As he would read, I really don't know who was laughing more, him or I. And this is now a tradition I have passed on to Andy. The other night I read "Are you my mother?", backwards. Not that hard, you may think, well just try it. We are so used to words being in a certain order that it is much harder.

So tonight as you go to bed think of Andy and I reading "mother my you Are"

Farve Fun is over

Today is a sad day for the Snyder's (ok for me and Andy, Steve could care less) and all of football. Brett Farve of the Green Bay Packers announced his retirement. He played for 17 years. He is one of the all time greats. I just loved to watch him play. He was so much like a kid. You could just tell he loved the game. He had great stats, won a Super Bowl and was known as a guy who liked to kid with his team mates. It was always fun to watch him, because we never really knew what was going to happen. I remember a few years back when his dad died on a Sunday I believe, and the Packers were up to play the Raiders. Many thought that he wouldn't be at the game, he would be home with his family. But not Brett. He played the best game of his life. Just as his dad would have wanted. They were playing in LA, and the Raider crowd not known for their love of other teams, actually welcomed Brett. Many had signs of well wished for him and his family.

I recently read his wife's book, and it was great. I learned so much about her and Brett. It was very refreshing to see a good guy in sports, when so much of what we see and hear about is they won't play because they don't get enough money, they need more sponsors, or just plain being ugly on the field. Brett was a true good sportsman, and he will be missed.

Andy was very lucky for Christmas he got some football cards and it just happen to have #4 in the pack. I was very jealous. I don't even have that.

I grew up watching football with my dad. The great Dallas Cowboys. Before the era of Jerry Jones (yuck). That was a time of great football. Maybe that is why I enjoyed watching the Packers for many years, they seemed like a team of good guys. I started watching them when Reggie White got traded to them. I loved Reggie, he was an ordained minister, a huge lineman, and a good guy. After watching Reggie there I grew to enjoy #4. Even after Reggie was traded, I was still a CheeseHead.

It is fun to see a guy really enjoy the game.
Brett trying to hold back emotions.

Brett's wife Deanna, always by his side.

Cricut Fun

For Christmas this year the Snyder girls got the fun Cricut Cutting machine. For those of you, like me, who don't know what a Cricut is, it is a fun scrapbooking, crafting and all around cutting machine.
It was coming on Valentine's day and I thought what a great way to break in the Cricut, than to have the kids make Valentine's cards. They, and me, had a blast. There is so much that the little machine can do, it will keep us busy many a rainy day.

Thank you Kathy!

Snow Fun

I was looking at our pictures on our memory stick and came across these fun photos. It is hard to believe it was just less than a month ago that we had this crazy storm. We must have had 6 inches of snow.

Ellyn wanted to go sledding, but I guess she didn't want to wait for me to drive to a good hill. This is on the side of our drive way. She worked so hard climbing the hill with the tube, and then the tube fell, but she was not going to give up, so down on her bum she goes.

Monster Truck Fun

For Christmas Steve got Andy tickets to see the monster trucks. Andy was so excited! The two of them had a great time. It was a great father/son outing. The next day I asked Andy what he thought of the monster trucks, "It was awesome!" he said.
