Farve Fun is over

Today is a sad day for the Snyder's (ok for me and Andy, Steve could care less) and all of football. Brett Farve of the Green Bay Packers announced his retirement. He played for 17 years. He is one of the all time greats. I just loved to watch him play. He was so much like a kid. You could just tell he loved the game. He had great stats, won a Super Bowl and was known as a guy who liked to kid with his team mates. It was always fun to watch him, because we never really knew what was going to happen. I remember a few years back when his dad died on a Sunday I believe, and the Packers were up to play the Raiders. Many thought that he wouldn't be at the game, he would be home with his family. But not Brett. He played the best game of his life. Just as his dad would have wanted. They were playing in LA, and the Raider crowd not known for their love of other teams, actually welcomed Brett. Many had signs of well wished for him and his family.

I recently read his wife's book, and it was great. I learned so much about her and Brett. It was very refreshing to see a good guy in sports, when so much of what we see and hear about is they won't play because they don't get enough money, they need more sponsors, or just plain being ugly on the field. Brett was a true good sportsman, and he will be missed.

Andy was very lucky for Christmas he got some football cards and it just happen to have #4 in the pack. I was very jealous. I don't even have that.

I grew up watching football with my dad. The great Dallas Cowboys. Before the era of Jerry Jones (yuck). That was a time of great football. Maybe that is why I enjoyed watching the Packers for many years, they seemed like a team of good guys. I started watching them when Reggie White got traded to them. I loved Reggie, he was an ordained minister, a huge lineman, and a good guy. After watching Reggie there I grew to enjoy #4. Even after Reggie was traded, I was still a CheeseHead.

It is fun to see a guy really enjoy the game.

Brett's wife Deanna, always by his side.
