Dinner Fun

Conversation between Andy and Ellyn as heard by mom:

Andy "Have you tried the chicken yet?"
Ellyn "No, have you?"
Andy "No."
Ellyn "I'm scared to."

Now I like to try new recipes, but the family gets a little scared.

Camping Fun

This past weekend we went camping! This is something the whole family looks forward to. We went we some friends Matt and Ashley Elder, and their two amazingly cute kids, Josh is 2 and Nevaeh who is 3 months. We will take those kids camping any day.

This was the year Andy learned to make the camp fire. And I know it will come as a big surprise, he loves making things burn. He did a great job.
We also played Joy's favorite game Lasso Golf. Or as it became known Hit the Husband. When it was mine or Ashley's turn to throw, we would just picture our wonderful husbands where we wanted the ball to land, and sure enough it worked. (Just kidding guys, they were actually very nice to us, even Steve.)
We took the Elders on a hike that we love. It is up to a waterfall. A pretty easy hike with a great place to play in the water. The boys found a trail to hike up above the waterfall. Andy just loved that most of all.

Steve cooked our meals for us. This is his element. He just loves camping. He was making breakfast one day and Ashley asked how this had come to be? Was it many years of training? No, he just loves to camp. On Sunday, I was doing the breakfast dishes and Steve made the comment that he is glad that I was cleaning up. Because he hate to cook and clean. You mean, like I do everyday? And then I could see the wheels turning in his head and the little light bulb go on, and for the first time I think he understood. Of course in his smartness, he replied, "I would think it an honor to serve my family everyday"

Small Town Fun

This past week it has been Fiesta Days here is Spanish Fork. There have been so many different things going on everyday this week. We have had the carnival, arts and crafts booths and great food, a parade and even fireworks that kept me up last night.

Yesterday (the 24th), it was crazy trying to get around town. The parade was going on just two blocks north of us, and so any way that I tried to go, there was a road blocked. My friend Ashley called me and asked what I was doing, and I told her "I am trying to get out of Spanish Fork! But it isn't working!"

One day we went down to the park where all the food was set up and had some amazing BBQ.

They also had this bungee thing that Andy wanted to do. He had never done anything like it before, so I wasn't too sure of how he was going to do. But he loved it. He even managed to do a flip.

I think I am enjoying living in a small town. Going to the same restaurants, seeing the same checkers at the grocery store, seeing the same clerk at the gas station were I get my Cokes. I never thought I would enjoy Spanish Fork, but I do.

VBS Fun

(Vacation Bible School)
Each year the kids go to VBS at Fellowship Bible Church in Lindon. They always have a great time playing games, learning Bible verses and this year learning the Fruits of the Spirit.

The theme this year was a County Fair. Farmer Mike (aka Pastor Mike) and his church did a great job decorating the church and teaching our kids.
(Is he really the Pastor? Yes, and last year he was Secret Agent Mike.)

Daycation Fun

During the summer our church has Daycations for the kids ages 5-12. Every other week they get to go on field trips and hang out with their friends. This week I went along. We went to Thanksgiving Point petting zoo and Cabela's.

Andy and his good friend Tanner.

They brought out some baby goats that were just one week old. They were soooooo cute!

Andy and I have picked out our Thanksgiving turkey!

We love our kids, but this is how our day ended. (just kidding, we did let them out right before their parents picked them up. )

Birthday Fun

Happy Birthday Ellyn!

"When I was four I had a hard time getting my shoes on, but now that I am five, I can do it."

4th Fun

We have many traditions on the 4th, which makes for a very fun filled few days. This has to be one of our favorite holidays, filled with lots of family fun.

It all begins with the Parade in Provo. Each year we (Joy, Andy & Ellyn) go with Grandma, Grandma Cannon & Jim. This year was nice because it wasn't so hot.

We always walk around the Freedom Festival, do a ride or two look at fun art and get some good food(snow cones.)

Then on to the BBQ/Birthday Party for Jocelyn. Lots of family, games, food and fireworks. This year we had a new addition to the family, Michelle's Steve. He did a little tweaking on some fireworks.

The next day we went to see the balloons! We had gotten to bed around midnight on Friday, and were up around 5:30 the next morning. Some of us were a little more loopy than the others (steve and steph).
